Abstract

Boiler adalah bejana tertutup yang berfungsi sebagai pembakaran dan transfer panas pada suatu industri manufaktur yang memiliki peranan penting dalam proses produksi. Boiler dapat menghasilkan steam yang digunakan untuk menggerakkan turbin. Boiler B 03 yang beroperasi pada salah satu anak perusahaan PT Pupuk Indonesia Group menjadi fokus dari penelitian ini karena terdapat permasalahan di mana boiler ini tidak dapat memproduksi steam sesuai dengan desain kapasitasnya. Suatu boiler yang tidak dapat memproduksi steam sesuai dengan kapasitas desainnya dapat dipastikan akan berdampak pada kerugian perusahaan. Boiler B 03 termasuk dalam kategori boiler water tube. Produksi steam pada boiler B 03 antara tahun 2019 sampai 2021 dibawah 400.000 Ton sedangkan kapasitasnya 788.400 Ton. Oleh karena itu perlu dilakukan penelitian agar performa boiler B 03 dapat meningkat. Metode yang digunakan untuk mencari akar permasalahan dalam upaya meningkatkan performa sistem boiler yaitu dengan menggunakan failure mode effect & criticality analysis (FMECA). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa komponen yang menjadi penyebab dominan turunnya performa sistem boiler sehingga tidak dapat beroperasi sesuai kapasitas desain antara lain water tube, burner, force draft fan, furnace dan pompa BFW. Setelah permasalahan diketahui rekomendasi untuk perbaikan antara lain melakukan perawatan secara berkala pada komponen boiler, mengganti sparepart yang telah rusak, dan melakukan training untuk operator.

Boilers in a manufacturing industry have an important role in the production process. Boilers can produce steam, which is used in the production process. Steam produced by the boilers can also be used as a power plant where the steam flow is used to drive a turbine. Several manufacturing industries that utilize boilers include the food, beverage, petrochemical and fertilizer industries. Boiler B 03, which operates in one of the subsidiaries of PT Pupuk Indonesia Group, is the focus of this research because of an issue in which this boiler cannot produce steam according to its design capacity. A boiler that cannot produce steam according to its design capacity can be ascertained to have low efficiency in the manufacturing. Boiler B 03 is included in the category of water tube boilers. In this type of boiler, the water or steam pipe is in the pipe with the combustion flame being outside. The method used to find the root of the problem in an effort to improve the performance of the boiler system is by using the failure mode effect & criticality analysis (FMECA). By using the FMECA method, the results show that the components that are the dominant cause of the decrease in boiler system are water tubes, burners, force draft fan, furnaces and BFW pumps. After the problem is known, recommendations for improvement include carrying out regular maintenance on boiler components, replacing damaged spare parts, and conducting training for operators.
