Abstract

Ocean waves are a renewable energy source that does not produce carbon emissions, so they are friendly to the environment. Ocean wave energy is very potential in Indonesia, considering that Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country in the world. This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the wave propagation and the potential energy of ocean waves in Natuna. In addition, sea wave technology planning is carried out to be distributed to the community. Ocean wave energy can be converted using an iOscilating water column system. This system has a more stable electrical energy output and is in line with Indonesian waters. This research begins with the collection of secondary data from BMKG in the form of wind data which is processed into wave data. Where the direction of coming, the dominant wind blows from the east and north, respectively 17.92% and 17.78%. Followed by the calculation of sea wave energy, which is equal to 1057.30 Joules. Based on the reference on the ISLAY LIMPET WAVE POWER PLANT, the optimal column dimensions of the 3 columns designed are 4 meters, with a power output of 1.3 kW. The construction of 37 units of OWC type power plants on Tanjung Pasir Beach can contribute 10% of the electricity needs of Rinai Airport.
