Abstract

The consumer's need for clothing products is very large, causing clothing production waste to also increase, one of which is the rest of the synthetic cloth cutting pattern (patch). These cloth patches are generally collected for processing or resale, but due to the lack of alternatives in their management and a lack of interest in buying raw materials, this has led to a buildup of patch waste and has led to burning of patch waste. This phenomenon has a negative impact on the surrounding environment. Therefore, this study aims to find the right design and processing of the remaining cutting patterns so that they are maximally utilized and have sale value. The method used in this research is observation, interview, and experiment. The first observation is made to identify the residual material of production. the second observation was made to identify design and technological developments that could be applied by most people, and the last observation was made to identify market interest. interviews were conducted to find out firsthand the handling and the specific amount of waste materials. Furthermore, the experimental method is carried out for novelty in processing. The experiment carried out in this study is the process of processing pieces of material so that their absorption capacity is maximized using the knot technique. This experiment is expected to be an alternative to reduce the amount of waste material, and make it a product with more selling value.
