Abstract

Kerasnya dan ketatnya persaingan pada perusahaan Forwarding dewasa ini, mengharuskan perusahaan forwarding bekerja lebih efisien dan efektif. Perusahaan forwarding yang tidak mampu dengan efektif dan efisien akan tertinggal dalam persaingan ini. Ketidak-lancaran arus informasi dalam perusahaan tersebut akan dapat menyebabkan kekacauan dalam pengambilan keputusan pada level manajemen bawah, menengah, ataupun pada manajemen puncak. Semakin majunya teknologi dibidang informatika, telah memunculkan komputer sebagai media pengolah dan pemroses data yang paling mutakhir. Komputer, aplikasi perangkat lunak (software dan hardware) dan sumber daya manusia yang terintegrasi inilah yang dikatakan sistem informasi manajemen. Salah satu ukuran kualitas pelayanan perusahaan Freight Forwarding ialah kecepatan pelayanan pengurusan dokumen sesuai jadwal yang telah diinformasikan pada shipper.Untuk mewujudkan hal ini, diperlukan sistem informasi yang didukung oleh model-model keputusan sistem yang sesuai untuk menghasilkan informasi yang tepat waktu, relevan, dan akurat. Serta diaharapkan prosedur pengambilan keputusan yang berhubungan dengan manajemen operasional dari shipping order masuk sampai komoditas ekspor di kapal akan menjadi jelas, mudah, dan cepat. Supaya dapat menyajikan informasi yang akurat dan up to date, maka data yang diperoleh harus dikelola secara terstruktur dan terpadu. Informasi ini nantinya akan dijadikan dasar pengambilan keputusan serta perancangan strategi dan taktik operasional perusahaan forwarding. Tanpa informasi yang terpadu dan akurat, perusahaan forwarding akan kehilangan kepercayaan dari shipper serta kehilangan kesempatan sehingga sulit mendapatkan net profit margin yang tinggi. Bertitik tolak dari situasi kondisi diatas, maka dicoba untuk dikembangkan suatu sistem informasi manajemen yang terpadu sehingga perusahaan freight forwarding mampu menghadapi ketatnya persaingan dan keinginan dari shipper

Today's tough and tight competition among forwarding companies requires forwarding companies to work more efficiently and effectively. Forwarding companies that are unable to effectively and efficiently will be left behind in this competition. The non-smooth flow of information within the company can cause chaos in decision making at the lower, middle, or top management levels. The advancement of technology in the field of informatics has led to the emergence of computers as the most up-to-date data processing and processing media. Computers, software applications (software and hardware) and integrated human resources are called management information systems. One measure of the service quality of a Freight Forwarding company is the speed of document management services according to the schedule that has been informed to the shipper. To realize this, an information system is needed that is supported by appropriate system decision models to produce timely, relevant and accurate information. . It is also hoped that decision-making procedures related to operational management from incoming shipping orders to export commodities on board will become clear, easy, and fast. In order to present accurate and up to date information, the data obtained must be managed in a structured and integrated manner. This information will later be used as a basis for decision making as well as designing operational strategies and tactics for the forwarding company. Without integrated and accurate information, forwarding companies will lose trust from shippers and lose opportunities making it difficult to get high net profit margins. Starting from the situation above, an attempt is made to develop an integrated management information system so that freight forwarding companies are able to face intense competition and demands from shippers
