Abstract

Seiring perkembangan waktu, penerapan circular economy tidak hanya mencakup praktik material circularity saja, tetapi juga terkait praktik yang berkontribusi pada pembangunan berkelanjutan dan pengembangan inovasi business model baru. Industri manufaktur pipa baja merupakan salah satu industri manufaktur yang memiliki potensi terbesar dalam menumbuhkan perekonomian negara. Sejumlah framework telah dikembangkan untuk memandu perusahaan dalam membangun inovasi business model berkelanjutan yang sesuai dengan prinsip-prinsip circular economy. Namun, hingga saat ini pengembangan inovasi circular economy business model pada perusahaan manufaktur pipa baja masih terbatas. Makalah ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan framework desain dan alternatif circular economy business model pada perusahaan manufaktur pipa baja High Frequency Welding (HFW) dengan pendekatan integrasi backcasting, eco-design, dan resource efficiency. Langkah pendekatan ini dapat memberikan gambaran kondisi saat ini dan rekomendasi strategi alternatif circular economy business model. Hasil identifikasi dalam penelitian menemukan perusahaan studi kasus (PMPB) telah menjalankan bisnis yang berfokus pada product quality dan telah menjalankan beberapa praktik terkait circular economy yang bersifat share dan optimize. Dari segi pemanfaatan resource, secara keseluruhan, penggunaan resource energi air dan listrik dalam proses produksi PMPB saat ini menunjukkan nilai efisiensi rata-rata ±40,38%. Teknik analisis integrasi DEMATEL (Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory) dan ANP (Analytic Network Process) digunakan untuk pemilihan alternatif circular economy business model PMPB. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, alternatif model bisnis yang dapat dikembangkan oleh PMPB adalah circular product & process design. Keterbatasan finansial dan pengetahuan internal stakeholder menjadi hambatan dalam implementasi alternatif model bisnis circular product & process design. Sehingga, alternatif model bisnis energy management dan waste recovery & recycling dapat menjadi alternatif yang dapat dikembangkan. Alternatif energy management berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan efisiensi resource sebesar ±65% dari kondisi eksisting. Alternatif waste recovery & recycling berkontribusi dalam mengubah waste menjadi value.

Over time, the application of a circular economy includes not only material circularity practices, but also practices that contribute to sustainable development and the development of new business model innovations. The steel pipe manufacturing industry is one of the manufacturing industries that has the greatest potential to grow the country's economy. A number of frameworks have been developed to guide companies in building sustainable business model innovations in accordance with circular economy principles. However, until now the development of innovative circular economy business models in steel pipe manufacturing companies is still limited. This paper aims to develop an alternative circular economy design framework and business model for High Frequency Welding (HFW) steel pipe manufacturing companies with integrated back-casting, eco-design, and resource efficiency approaches. This approach can provide an overview of current conditions and recommendations for alternative circular economy business model strategies. The identification results in the research found that the case study company (PMPB) had run a business that focused on product quality and had implemented several practices related to the circular economy, namely sharing and optimizing. In terms of resource utilization, overall, the use of water and electricity energy resources in the current PMPB production process shows an average efficiency value of ±40,38%. DEMATEL (Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory) and ANP (Analytic Network Process) integration analysis techniques are used to select alternative circular economy business models for PMPB. Based on the results of the analysis, an alternative business model that can be developed by PMPB is circular product & process design. Financial limitations and internal knowledge of stakeholders become obstacles in implementing alternative circular product & process design business models. Thus, business models for alternative energy management and waste recovery & recycling can be developed as alternatives. Alternative energy management contributes to an increase in resource efficiency of ±65% from the existing condition. Alternatives to waste recovery & recycling contribute to turning waste into value.
