Abstract

Koordinasi optimal dari directional overcurrent relay (DOCR) merupakan tugas penting dalam memastikan keamanan dan keandalan jaringan sistem tenaga listrik. Studi ini mengusulkan varian modified grey wolf optimization (MGWO) untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan koordinasi DOCR. MGWO diusulkan untuk meningkatkan karakteristik konvergensi dari grey wolf optimization (GWO) konvensional dengan memilih keseimbangan yang sesuai antara fase eksplorasi dan eksploitasi. Keseimbangan ini dicapai dengan menggunakan strategi pencarian dimension learn hunting dan pengurangan kuadratik parameter kontrol selama proses iteratif. MGWO yang diusulkan diterapkan untuk menyelesaikan masalah koordinasi DOCR, dengan variabel keputusan berupa pickup current (IP) dan time dial setting (TDS). Tujuan utama dari koordinasi optimal DOCR adalah meminimalkan waktu operasi total dari semua rele primer dengan mempertahankan selektivitas antara pasangan rele, serta meminimalkan batasan waktu koordinasi antara rele primer dan rele backup. Kelayakan dan kinerja MGWO dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan koordinasi DOCR dievaluasi menggunakan sistem IEEE 8 bus dengan 2 skema, dan dibandingkan dengan beberapa algoritme lainnya. Hasil yang diperoleh membuktikan keefektifan MGWO, dengan terjadi peningkatan antara 5,52% hingga 58,19%, dari fungsi objektif jika dibandingkan dengan algoritme lain yang telah dijelaskan dalam literatur. Selain itu, pengaturan DOCR yang dihasilkan MGWO telah divalidasi menggunakan software ETAP untuk memastikan tidak ada pengaturan yang melanggar operasi DOCR.

Optimal coordination of directional overcurrent relays (DOCRs) is a crucial task in ensuring the security and reliability of power system networks. This study proposes a modified version of the grey wolf optimization (GWO) algorithm, known as modified grey wolf optimization (MGWO), to solve the DOCRs coordination problem. The MGWO algorithm is designed to improve the convergence characteristics of the conventional GWO by achieving a suitable balance between the exploration and exploitation phases. This balance is achieved through the implementation of a dimension learn-hunting strategy and quadratic decreasing of the control parameter during the iterative process. The proposed MGWO algorithm is applied to solve the DOCRs coordination problem, with the decision variables being the pickup current (IP) and time dial setting (TDS). The main objective of optimal DOCRs coordination is to minimize the total operating time of all primary relays while maintaining selectivity between relay pairs and minimizing the discrimination time between primary and backup relays. The feasibility and performance of the MGWO algorithm in solving the DOCRs coordination problem are evaluated using the IEEE 8-bus system with two schemes and compared with several other algorithms. The obtained results demonstrate the effectiveness of the MGWO algorithm, with an improvement ranging from 5.52% to 58.19% in the objective function compared to other algorithms described in the literature. Additionally, the generated DOCRs settings by the MGWO algorithm are validated using ETAP software to make sure no setting causes a violation of the DOCRs operation.
