Abstract

Teki (Cyperus rotundus L.) merupakan salah satu jenis gulma yang sering ditemukan di lahan terbuka. Beberapa penelitian mengenai keben (Barringtonia asiatica L.) menunjukkan adanya kandungan senyawa alelokimia dari beberapa golongan seperti saponin, terpena, dan flavonoid yang berpotensi sebagai pembasmi Organisme Pengganggu Tanaman (OPT). Namun, masih sedikit penelitian mengenai potensi ekstrak daun keben sebagai pembasmi OPT terlebih dalam membasmi gulma. Oleh karena itu, pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian efektivitas ekstrak kasar daun keben sebagai herbisida nabati dalam mengatasi gulma teki. Metode yang digunakan terdiri atas persiapan penyemaian gulma teki dan pembuatan ekstrak herbisida nabati dari daun keben dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut polar etanol 96%. Lalu, uji pertumbuhan dengan dilakukan pemberian perlakuan kontrol (akuades), konsentrasi ekstrak 25%, 50%, 75%, dan 100% sebanyak 5 ml. Parameter yang diamati diantaranya adalah selisih tinggi tanaman, berat kering, berat basah, jumlah anakan, dan morfologi gulma teki. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan data eksperimental dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Anova one-way. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak kasar daun keben berpengaruh terhadap penghambatan tinggi dan menyebabkan gejala klorosis dan nekrosis gulma teki, namun tidak berpengaruh pada berat basah, berat kering, dan jumlah anakan gulma teki. Ekstrak kasar daun keben efektif bekerja pada perlakuan ekstrak 75%.

Cyperus rotundus L., commonly known as nutgrass, is a weed species frequently found in open fields. Several studies have investigated the potential of Barringtonia asiatica L., a plant commonly known as keben, as a source of allelochemical compounds that have the potential to act as natural herbicides against plant pests. However, there is still limited research on the potential of keben leaf extract as a herbicide specifically targeting nutgrass. Therefore, this study aimed to test the effectiveness of crude keben leaf extract as a natural herbicide against nutgrass. The methodology involved preparing the nutgrass seedbed and extracting the herbicidal compounds from keben leaves using the maceration method with 96% polar ethanol as the solvent. The growth experiment included a control group (aquades) and treatments with different concentrations of the keben extract (25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%) applied in 5 ml volumes. Parameters observed included plant height difference, dry weight, wet weight, number of shoots, and nutgrass morphology. Data analysis was performed using experimental data and further analyzed using one-way ANOVA. The results indicated that the crude keben leaf extract had an inhibitory effect on the height of nutgrass and caused symptoms of chlorosis and necrosis in the plants, but did not significantly affect wet weight, dry weight, and the number of shoots. The most effective concentration of the keben extract was found to be 75%.
