Abstract

Battery management system (BMS) plays an important role in electric vehicles (EV). State of Charge (SOC) is one of the BMS vital parameters indicating the amount of charge remaining in the battery. Accurate SOC estimation leads to long battery life and prevents battery-caused havoc. However SOC estimation is a complex process as it depends on various factors such as battery age, ambient temperature and many other factors. In this final project, a black-box model approach is chosen to estimate SOC with limited battery information about the internal characteristics and chemical reactions of the battery. LSTM was proposed to solve this problem.
