Abstract

Logam paduan yang dapat mengembalikan bentuk ke semula setelah mengalami deformasi ataupun dipanaskan pada temperatur tertentu disebut dengan Shape Memory Alloy (SMA). Sifat yang dimiliki tersebut dinamai dengan Shape Memory Effect. Dalam penelitian ini, paduan Cu-12,36Al-2,06Mn tersebut akan diberikan perlakuan panas meliputi homogenizing dan solution treatment dengan variasi pada holding time solution treatment dengan temperatur 900°C yang ditahan selama 5, 10, dan 15 menit. Selanjutnya, paduan diquench menggunakan metode step quench dan up quench dengan media pendingin berupa boiling water bertemperatur 100°C selama 15 menit. Setelah melakukan proses perlakuan panas, maka paduan Cu-Al-Mn akan dilakukan pengujian komposisi, pengujian X-Ray Diffraction, pengujian metalografi, pengujian Differential Scanning Calorimetry, pengujian Shape Memory Effect, dan pengujian kekerasan untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh variasi holding time dan metode quenching pada solution treatment terhadap struktur mikro, kekerasan, dan shape memory effect. Diperoleh hasil bahwa semakin lamanya holding time solution treatment maka persentase fasa twinned martensite semakin tinggi. Spesimen SQ15 (holding time solution treatment selama 15 menit dengan metode pendinginan step quench) memiliki fasa twinned martensite terbanyak sebesar 44,895%. Untuk nilai kekerasan tertinggi terdapat pada spesimen UQ15 (holding time solution treatment selama 15 menit dengan metode pendinginan up quench) sebesar 242,3 ± 1,53 VHN. Persentase Shape Memory Effect tertinggi dimiliki oleh spesimen SQ15 sebesar 35%.

Shape Memory Alloys (SMA) are alloys that may return to their original shape after being deformed or heated to a specific temperature. The Shape Memory Effect is the name given to this characteristic. The Cu-12,36Al-2,06Mn alloy will be heat treated in this study, comprising homogenizing and solution treatment with variations in holding duration solution treatment at 900°C for 5, 10, and 15 minutes. The alloy was then quenched for 15 minutes using the step quench and up quench procedure using a cooling medium of boiling water at 100°C. After heat treatment, the Cu-12,36Al-2,06Mn alloy will be tested for composition, X-Ray Diffraction, metallographic testing, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, Shape Memory Effect, and hardness to determine the effect of variations in holding time and quenching methods on solution treatment of microstructure, hardness, and shape memory effect. The results showed that the larger the proportion of twinned martensite phase, the longer the holding duration solution treatment. The most twinned martensite phase was found in the SQ15 specimen (holding time solution treatment for 15 minutes with step quench cooling procedure) is 44,895%. The UQ15 specimen (holding duration solution treatment for 15 minutes with the up quench cooling method) has the maximum hardness value of 242,3 ± 1,53 VHN. The SQ15 specimen possesses the highest percentage of Shape Memory Effect with 35%.
