Abstract

Air adalah salah satu sumber daya yang masif digunakan pada industri baik skala kecil maupun besar. Ketersedaian dan kualitas air bersih saat ini menjadi fokus utama pemerintah bahkan dunia. Pembangkit listrik tenaga uap merupakan salah satu industri yang memiliki daya konsumsi air yang sangat besar sebagai air umpan boiler. Untuk mengurangi tingkat padatan tersuspensi dan total padatan terlarut (TDS) ke batas yang dapat diterima, air dibuang secara berkala dari boiler inilah yang disebut Blowdown. Banyak dari industri masih membuang air blowdown ke lingkungan tanpa adanya pemanfaatan lebih lanjut. Namun, dari beberapa penelitian yang telah dilakukan ada beberapa cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk pemanfaatan blowdown boiler. Salah satunya ialah reverse osmosis (RO). Membran reverse osmosis (RO) dapat digunakan untuk mengolah blowdown dan menggunakannya kembali sebagai air proses. Studi bertujuan untuk menambah penggunaan reverse osmosis dalam produksi air bersih dengan memanfaatkan blowdown boiler. Instalasi reverse osmosis ditambahkan pada sulfuric acid plant PT XYZ dengan tujuan untuk memproduksi air bersih. Air bersih yang dihasilkan dari sistem tersebut sebanyak 846.36 m3 /bulan. Analisa ekonomi menunjukkan bahwa estimasi pengeluaran operasional setiap bulan sebesar Rp 1,076,567.

Water is one of the massive resources used in both small and large-scale industries. The availability and quality of clean water are currently the main focus of the government and even the world. The steam power plant is one industry with a very large water consumption power as boiler feed water. In order to reduce the level of suspended solids and total dissolved solids (TDS) to acceptable limits, water is removed periodically from the boiler, which is called Blowdown. Many industries still discharge blowdown water into the environment without further utilization. However, from several studies that have been carried out, there are several ways that can be done to utilize boiler blowdown. One of them is reverse osmosis (RO). Reverse osmosis (RO) membranes can be used to treat blowdown and reuse it as process water. The study aims to increase the use of reverse osmosis in clean water production by utilizing boiler blowdown. A reverse osmosis installation was added to PT XYZ's sulfuric acid plant with the aim of producing clean water. The clean water produced from this system is 846.36 m3/month. Economic analysis shows that the estimated monthly outcome is Rp 1,076,567.
