Abstract

Porang (Amorphopallus muelleri B) is a taro plant (Araceae) which can be used as a healthy low-sugar food and is a raw material for various manufacturing industries. In the cultivation of this plant, many factors affect the level of production such as land area, seeds, fertilizers, and the availability of labor. This study analyzed the influence of production factors (inputs) on the level of production (output) of people in Klangon Village, Saradan District, Madiun Regency using a sequential explanatory mixed research approach. The independent variables used include land area (X1), seeds (X2), fertilizer (X3), and labor (X4), with the dependent variable porang production (Y). The quantitative data were analyzed using the Cobb-Douglas production function to obtain the level of influence, the elasticity of output to input, and returns to scale. Meanwhile, the qualitative approach in this study aims to obtain a description of the current condition of porang cultivation and its contribution to increasing people's income and environmental sustainability. Analysis of a qualitative approach using the interactive Miles & Huberman method. The results obtained are that porang cultivation in Klangon Village is in a condition of increasing returns to scale with land, seed, and labor factors having a significant influence on porang production. In addition, it was also found that porang cultivation had a positive impact on the economic level of the community and prevented forest destruction for economic reasons.
