Abstract

Indonesia is an agricultural country with tropical terrain and is located in the equatorial corridor, making Indonesia more vulnerable to natural disasters than other countries. Flooding is one of the natural disasters that Indonesia has to deal with. Floods are brought on by intense rainfall, which increases the volume of water to a point where the local drainage system cannot handle it. Severe drainage issues are occurring in several regions of Indonesia. This drainage problem will disrupt residential areas, transportation, and other public infrastructure if left unchecked. As a result, it may result in significant financial losses. One of several regions with drainage problems is Surakarta City. Surakarta City is located in an area with moderate rainfall intensity and relatively low terrain. Therefore, Surakarta City should not experience flooding if the drainage system is adequate. However, floods still occur. As a result, the drainage of Surakarta City, especially Banjarsari District, needs to be redesigned. Redesigning the drainage network infrastructure in the Banjarsari district is necessary to accommodate steady-state flow rates, particularly during the rainy season. It is intended that the drainage system will be redesigned so that it is sufficient to handle any water discharge that arises without flooding or inundating the area under consideration. The drainage system in the Banjarsari district of Kali Anyar subsystem will be redesigned as part of this project's conclusion to address flood issues by using a handful of methodologies, including hydrology and hydraulics analysis, evaluation of the existing drainage system, and planning the development of the drainage system.
