Abstract

Ocean Printing adalah perusahaan yang bergerak dalam bidang industri percetakan. Ocean Printing sendiri melakukan percetakan dalam kuantitas satuan hingga kuantitas korporat dengan kuantitas yang sangat tinggi. Terdapat beberapa permasalahan yang muncul dalam proses percetakan di Ocean Printing yaitu waste defect dan waiting time. Dalam usaha untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan tersebut, Ocean Printing harus melakukan beberapa penyesuaian terhadap proses operasional percetakan yang saat ini dijalani. Six Sigma merupakan salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan yang ada pada proses operasional percetakan. Dalam penerapannya digunakan value stream mapping dan operation process chart untuk memetakan aktivitas proses yang ada didalam proses bisnis dan pengukuran terhadap waste yang terjadi menggunakan pareto chart serta dampak finansial untuk menentukan defect dan waste kritis yang muncul dalam proses percetakan. Berdasarkan pareto chart dan pemilihan waste kritis, hasil percetakan yang tidak presisi, warna berbeda, serta warming-up defect serta waste waiting time.sebagai waste yang dinilai kritis pada proses percetakan dengan nilai sigma eksisting masing masing 3.6 serta 3.09. Defect dan waste kritis yang muncul dicari akar permasalahannya menggunakan metode root cause analysis serta fault and mode analysis untuk mencari akar permasalahan kritis yang menjadi penyebab utama dari waste proses percetakan. Kesalahan operator menjadi salah satu akar permasalahan kritis yang muncul pada waste defect serta waiting time. Alternatif - alternatif perbaikan dibuat berdasarkan akar – akar permasalahan kritis yang muncul dari hasil penilaian fault and mode analysis dibandingkan dan dipilih dengan menggunakan metode value engineering untuk mendapatkan pilihan alternatif perbaikan terbaik yang dapat diterapkan. Alternatif perbaikan yang terpilih adalah memperbaiki standard operating procedure mengenai aktivitas percetakan yang cukup rentan dengan dengan terjadinya defect dan implementasi kanban visual sebagai alat bantu visual komunikasi antara operator untuk meminimasi waiting time antara aktivitas. Implementasi alternatif perbaikan yang telah dipilih dapat menaikkan sigma dari waste defect menjadi 3.74 dan sigma waste waiting time menjadi 3.39.

Ocean Printing is a company which operates in prnting industry. Ocean Printing has produced printing for a single digit quantity to a corporate level quantity. There’s a few problems emerged on its printing process which is defect waste and waiting time waste. In effort to solve this problems, Ocean Printing has to make an adjustment to its printing process. Six Sigma is one of the methods that can be used to solve this problem. In the implementation of Six Sigma, value stream mapping and operation process charts is utilized to map process activities that involved in its printing process. While pareto charts, and financial analysis is used to determine critical defect and waste that arise in the printing process. Based on the pareto chart and critical waste selection, innacurate printing, different colors, and warming-up defect is chosed as critical defect, while waiting time waste and defect is chosed as critical waste with its existing sigma level respectively, 3.6 and 3.09 Critical defect and waste that has been chosen is then analyzed with root cause analysis and fault and mode analysis method to find its critical roots causes which then caused the critical defect and waste that happened in the printing process. Operator error is one of the critical root causes that caused the waste defect and waiting time to happened in the Printing Process. Improvement alternatives then is generated based on these critical root causes and evaluated with value engineering method to find the best improvement alternatives possible..Improvement alternative that is chosed are to improve standard operating procedure of activity process that are prone to operator error which is printing activity and image ripping activity and implementation of kanban visual as a visual communication method to help connect and maintain communication between operator to minizime waiting time it caused. The implementation of improvement alternative can improve the current sigma to a better level, where the defect waste sigma improved to 3.74 and waiting time waste sigma level improved to 3.39.
