Abstract
Exploration and production optimization of hydrocarbons have been prompted by the rise in hydrocarbon use, including both oil and natural gas, each year. The process of hydrocarbon exploration necessitates high precision and accuracy to avoid losses for the implementing firm due to the significant subsurface uncertainty. By integrating seismic inversion, hydrocarbon reservoirs can be better characterized, leading to improved predictions of their presence, extent, and potential production The inversion seismic method has been widely used to generate reservoir properties in oil and gas fields. In this study, one of the inversion methods known as simultaneous inversion is used to delineate hydrocarbons in Group I-35 reservoirs in ANG Field, Malay Basin. Simultaneous inversion is applied to partial angle stack data and produces volumes of Acoustic Impedance (AI), Shear Impedance (SI), Density, Vp/vS and Lame parameter (LMR). This study aims to determine the distribution of hydrocarbons in the Group I-35 reservoir formation. Sensitivity analysis was conducted by cross-plotting between elastic parameters and Lame parameters using one well log data and analysing the separation of hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon zones within it. Sensitive parameters that can separate hydrocarbon fluids are Acoustic Impedance with Vp/Vs and Lambda-rho with Mu-rho with a cutoff value of 65% water saturation. Simultaneous Inversion results provide a good approach for P-impedance and S-impedance parameters with angle trace correlation of inversion results and log correlation is 0.972 where the value is said to be good because the value is >0.8. Hydrocarbon distribution is also generated from well cross plot and seismic cross plot results, and it has been proven that the simultaneous seismic inversion method can be applied to the ANG field, Malay Basin.
