Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi dalam dunia otomotif sekarang ini
sudah banyak mengalami peningkatan, misalnya yaitu
meningkatkan efisiensi kendaraan dengan cara mereduksi
beratnya. Seperti halnya Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember
Surabaya (ITS) yang sedang melakukan riset menegenai mobil
beban body, motor, baterai, drivetrain, pengemudi, penumpang
stiffnessnya 50877,61 Nm/deg.

Technological developments in the automotive world today
are much increased, for example, which is to increase efficiency
by reducing vehicle weight. As well as Institute of Technology
Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya (ITS) which is conducting research
about electric car as light as possible in order to increase its
efficiency. Increased vehicle efficiency can be improved by
reducing the weight of the vehicle, for example on the chassis and
the vehicle body. The use of lightweight material, but still has
good strength to be applied on the chassis and the vehicle body
and being a lot of research. The study on the use of composite
materials and aluminum as the chassis and the vehicle body. With
the research is expected to help overcome the global energy crisis
the world is happening at the moment.
Starting from these problems, in this study will be tested on
the use of composite carbon fiber and aluminum sandwich as a
vehicle chassis and body. Testing method in this research is using
simulation tests with the aid of finite element software.
Simulations carried out to compare the stiffness and strength to
accept a static load using a composite material of carbon fiber
and aluminum sandwich as the chassis and the vehicle body.
Based on the simulation results that the body design of
aluminum EN AW-6060-T4 with a thickness of 0.93 has been able
to withstand vertical and lateral loads resulting glass loads and loads of accessories body (reducer) with a value of 34.13 MPa
maximum stress due to lateral loads and total deformations
8.7911 mm to a maximum vertical load and the resulting weight
45.46 kg, while the carbon fiber composite body design 2 layer
with a thickness of 2 mm is more secure because the maximum
stress is smaller at 25.613 Mpa for vertical loads and total
deformation maximum 7.0728 mm and weight of the resulting
lighter is 39.38 kg. Aluminum chassis design EN AW-6082-T6
with a thickness of 2 mm has been able to withstand vertical and
lateral loads due to body load, the motor, battery, drivetrain,
driver, passenger, and also due to gravity of 9.81 m/s2 with a
maximum stress of 109.87 MPa due to lateral load and total
maximum deformation 2.6836 mm due to vertical load and
resulting weight 38.194 kg with a value of torsional stiffness
23717.89 Nm/deg. While the chassis design of composite carbon
fiber sandwich layer 5 with a thickness of 14 mm is more secure
in receiving the vertical load but weaker in accepting lateral load
with maximum stress 93.858 MPa for lateral loads and maximum
deformation 6.2078 mm with resulting weight of 35.117 kg,
stiffness value better than an aluminum chassis with a value
torsioanal stiffness 50877.61 Nm / deg.
