Abstract

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) merupakan teknologi pereduksi NOx pada motor diesel. Cara kerja EGR yaitu mensirkulasikan sebagian gas buang ke ruang bakar. Hal ini dapat menurunkan temperatur pembakaran adiabatik dan mengurangi reaksi oksigen pada nitrogen. Metode ini dapat menghambat pembentukan NOx selama proses pembakaran karena reaksi pembentukan NOx terjadi pada temperatur tinggi. Penggunaan EGR memiliki beberapa dampak lain seperti performa motor menurun, SFOC meningkat dan perubahan proses pembakaran. Agar dampak negatif dapat ditekan, penelitian dilakukan dengan mengganti EGR valve menggunakan jenis angle globe valve. Eksperimen dilakukan dengan menggunakan motor diesel satu silinder tipe YANMAR TF85-MHDI. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini adalah emisi NOx berkurang hingga 15,6 g/kWh atau 44,2% dari kondisi motor tanpa EGR. Hasil eksperimen performa menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan angle globe EGR valve mampu mengurangi SFOC sebesar 35,29 gr/Kwh. Hasil power, torsi, dan BMEP juga lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kondisi sebelum modifikasi. Sedangkan pada combustion process menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan angle globe EGR valve menyebabkan peak of combustion pressure menjadi lebih rendah dan rate of heat release (ROHR) menjadi menurun. ======================================================================================================= Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) is technology to reduce NOx emission of diesel engine. This technology could circulated some exhaust gas into the combustion chamber. The adiabatic combustion temperature could decrease and reduce the reaction of oxygen in nitrogen. This method could inhibit the formation of NOx during the combustion process because NOx formation reactions occur at high temperatures. EGR has some effects such as decreased engine performance, SFOC increases and changes in the combustion process. In order to suppress the negative impact, the research carried out by replacing the EGR valve using a type angle globe valve. Experiments conducted using a single cylinder diesel engine YANMAR type TF85-MHDI. The results obtained in this study is the emission of NOx can be reduced up to 15,6g/kWh or 44.2% of the motor condition without EGR. The experimental results indicate that the use of angle globe EGR valve can reduce the SFOC up to 35,29 gr/kWh. Results of power, torque, and BMEP also better compared EGR standart. While in the combustion process showed that the use of EGR valve angle globe causing peak of combustion pressure becomes lower and the rate of heat release (ROHR) is lowered.
