Abstract

Mesin diesel merupakan sistem penggerak utama yang banyak
digunakan baik untuk sistem transportasi maupun penggerak
stasioner. Permasalahan dasar dalam pengoperasian motor diesel yaitu semakin berkurangnya bahan bakar fosil yang tersedia di pasaran. Adanya biodiesel sebagai bahan alternatif yang terbarukan mampu memberi jawaban dari permasalahan tersebut. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada bahan bakar baru yaitu bahan bakar campuran antara metanol dengan minyak diesel (BB15) yang dicampurkan dengan metode emulsi. Lalu akan diuji pengaruh pencampuran tersebut terhadap performa,NOx dan combustion procces pada motor diesel. Hasil analisa uji performa motor diesel meyimpulkan bahwa metanol mempengaruhi peningkatan performa motor diesel. Peningkatan tersebut terlihat terutama pada sfoc BB15 dibandingkan dengan pertamina dex sebagai pembandingnya. Kemudian hasil eksperimen perbandingan proses pembakaran (Combustion Process) dariBB15 dengan pertamina dex dilakukan dengan menggunakan alat mesin analisis pembakaran (TMR-Instrument Amplifier). Dari analisis ini menunjukkan bahwa BB15 memiliki tekanan maksimal dan Heat Release yang tinggi yang tinggi pada daya maksimal yaitu RPM 2200 dari Pertamina Dex.

Diesel engine is the prime mover system that is widely used both for transportation and stationary propulsion systems. Theproblems in the operation of the diesel engine is the reduction in fossil fuel available on the market. The existence of biodiesel as an alternative renewable material can give an answer to these problems. This study focused on the new fuel that is mixture of methanol with diesel oil (BB15) which is mixed with the emulsion method. Then It will be tested the effect on theperformance, NOx and combustion procces. The results of the analysis of the performance concludes that methanol affecting improvment in performance on diesel motors. The significat increase was in SFOC, BB15 had higher SFOC value compared to Pertamina dex. Then the results of experiments comparing the combustion process of BB15 with Pertamina dex performed using an analysis combustion engine (TMR-Instrument Amplifier). From this analysis shows that the BB15 has a maximum pressure and higher Heat Release at maximum power which is 2200 RPM power than Pertamina Dex.
