Abstract

============================================================================================== Welding technology is a technique of connecting two or more metals using the heat energy that is used according to need. The existence of local heating due to the welding and the rapid cooling or high temperature changes cause the stored energy in the weld region is also high resulting in residual stress and distortion. In this study conducted at the stiffened plate welding simulation with elements of genius types of solid and shell elements. Where the element types used solid 3D modeling while shell element types using 2D modeling or area. Numerical analysis performed using software finite element method. In this research, the connection panel welding simulation platform deck plate fillet weld joint to get the heat distribution on the connection that happens. The results obtained at the peak temperature of 2256,64 K solid elements and shell elements amounted to 2554,02 K. After the simulation of welding residual stress and continue the simulation result of a distortion in the joint fillet weld joint. The maximum tensile stress obtained solid element of 380,46 MPa and maximum compressive stress -143,54 MPa whereas the maximum tensile stress of shell elements of 421,85 MPa and maximum compressive stress of -102,36Mpa. Simulations performed with ANSYS Mechanical APDL 16.2. This study will compare the residual stresses that occur based on the running time. Results of running time that the solid element takes a total of 2 hours 13 minutes while the shell elements takes a total of 21 minutes. This study shows that the shell element has the fastest running time with the accuracy of which is not too far away compared with solid
