Abstract

The cargo ship was used as transportation to move cargo from one place to another. Considering the speed it will affect fuel consumption travel time and waiting time. The optimum speed will make the ship become more friendly to the environment. In this case study, MV. Mitra Anugrah II at the port of Tanjung Perak has about than 3 hours on each loading and unloading. Therefore this final project means to do reanalyzing of ship speed resistance and seakeeping which the result can be used as ship operational reference. Result of this analysis is optimal speed which has been earned from 75% engine load, which is 10,78 knots at MCR engine margin 5% from total of operations. The speed of existing engine produced 7,650gm/kWh NOx; 33,459gmCO2.ton.mile EEDI emission, and 1,5 minutes rest of waiting time. Considering resistance of the ship than optimal BHP can be calculated as 1200kW, by using such BHP so there are options to replace the engine in addition due to optimum enviromentaly safe. At that repowering engine can be obtained 29,35 gmCO2/ton.mile of EEDI on the same engine load condition as the existing engine and produces lower emissions. Ship response towards RAO wave heading angle 0o, 45o, 90o, 135o, and 180o no only at service speed but also optimum speed has met the boundary criteria of GL Noble Denton (2100). With lower speed, ship movement becomes more steady as a comfort place to work.
