Abstract

badan air melebihi daya tampung maupun daya dukungnya.
biaya, yaitu berupa biosand filter.
organik (COD) 74,09%; 76,93%; dan 70,81%, TSS 79,99%;

The amount of domestic wastewater production has now
increased and over the limit of maximum capacity which
environment able to support.
In order to anticipate the negative potency that occurred, biosand
filter had chosen as an effective and economic alternative of
wastewater treatment. The purpose of this research is getting the
optimum variation of sand filter’s diameter and thickness and
calculating it’s removal efficiencies in terms of removing COD,
TSS, nitrate and phosphate within the mix of greywater and
blackwaterwhich is artificially made.
According to the analysis, an average removal of biosand filter 1,
2, and 3 over COD sequentially were 74,09%; 76,93%; and
70,81%. TSS 79,99%; 81,32%; and79,61%. nitrat 36,44%;
37,27%; and34,62%. fosfat 28,40%; 30,37%; and28,39%.
Biosand filter 2 had came out to be the most optimum media with
0,59 mm of diameter and 10 cm thickness variation.
