Abstract

Type of plant that commonly used is steam power plant which works with rankine cycle. How to improve efficiency of a power plant by adding a feedwater heater manifold high pressure heater (HPH). HPH works to increase temperature of water to be heated in the boiler, so use of fuel is less than without HPH. However, in actual conditions, HPH often face problems that do repairs that require off service of HPH. Needed to research the effect off service HPH to power plant performance.
This research varying off service HPH using thermodynamic analysis with simulation of Gatecycle software. All calculations using the input parameters of pressure and temperature at the same steam boiler by varying the amount of the rate of fuel. Based from Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (PID) and data properties of PT. PJB Gresik, modeling Gatecycle with varying seven variations off service HPH.
Research results obtained the effect of the composition of off service HPH to boiler efficiency, power generation, heat rate, and power efficiency. Increasing the number of HPH in conditions off service, will increase efficiency of boiler, but decrease efficiency of power plant. HPH most adverse impact on plant efficiency when off service is second HPH.
