Abstract

Indonesia sekarang sedang mengalami kekurangan energi listrik
dimana kapasitas daya pembangkit listrik masih kalah jauh dari kebutuhan
penduduk.
memiliki potensi teoritis 160 GW, sedangkan panas laut memiliki potensi
model mekanisme Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Gelombang Laut tipe Salter
tail sehingga menghasilkan gerakan naik turun (pitching). Kemudian
A, 0.5779 V, dan 0.3202 mWatt. Hubungan antara diameter flywheel
dengan energi bangkitan yaitu berbanding lurus, sehingga semakin besar
diameter flywheel maka semakin besar pula energi bangkitan yang
dihasilkan. Begitu pula hubungan antara frekuensi & amplitudo
gelombang dengan energi bangkitan yaitu berbanding lurus, sehingga
semakin besar frekuensi & amplitudo gelombang maka semakin besar

Indonesia is currently experiencing a shortage of electrical
energy due to the lack of power capacity produced by power plants.
Therefore, an alternative renewable resources of energy is needed, such as
ocean energy utilization. With almost 60% of the total area consist of
water, Indonesia surely has great potentials from ocean energy. The
potential of ocean energy which already confirmed by ASELI (Indonesian
Ocean Energy Association) in 2011 consist of tidal power which has 160
GW, ocean thermal energy which has 57 GW, and wave energy which has
510 GW in theoretic potential. Out of the three types of ocean energy, the
wave energy is chosen as the focus of this research.
This research focused on modeling and simulation of the Ocean
Wave Power Plant Salter Duck system prototype with flywheel addition,
in order to know the effect of the flywheel addition, as well as the effect
of the wave frequency and amplitude variation towards the electric energy
produced. The energy which produced by this Ocean Wave Power Plant
is originated from the ocean wave force which converted through the duck
and generating the pitching movement. Then the pitching movement will
be forwarded to the gearbox by the roller chain and sprocket.
Electromagnetic induction is used to connect the gearbox and the
generator. A flywheel is added to the gearbox as an energy storage which
produced by the gearbox’s shaft rotation when the nodding duck move, so
when the nodding duck is not moving, the energy which stored in the
flywheel will be distributed to the gearbox’s shaft which is connected to
the generator. The variation used in this research is flywheel’s diameter
variation (6.5, 7, and 7.5 cm), and the frequency of the wave variation
(0.7, 0.8, and 0.9 Hz) as well as the amplitude of the wave (0.020, 0.031,
and 0.032 m). The highest value of the current, voltage, and power output is
produced by the simulation of the Ocean Wave Power Plant salter duck
prototype added with 7.5 cm flywheel at the 0.9 Hz frequency and 0.032
m amplitude with each value is 0.00049 A, 0.5779 V, and 0.3202 mWatt.
The correlation between diameter of the flywheel and energy output is
straightly proportional, so the higher the diameter of the flywheel, the
higher energy output will be produced. The correlation between the
frequency and amplitude of the wave and energy output is straightly
proportional too, so the higher the frequency and amplitude of the wave,
the higher energy output will be produced. The energy generated by the
simulation is higher than the energy generated by the experiment with
25.02% error.
