Abstract

Seismic section that usually observed is the result of a certain frequency composition. A section that contained different frequency will show different geological features. This is due to geological properties like thickness or fluid content will only be apparent to be observed in the appropriate frequency range. In this study, the writer did the utilization of spectral decomposition attribute for mapping the spreading of sandstone in 3D seismic data Penobscot. Besides seismic data, two well data, B-41 and L-30 were also used. The software used were IHS Kingdom and OpendTect. The target zone in this study was in Missisauga Formation. Data processing was begun by doing well to seismic tie, on well B-41, the value of correlation coefficient obtained was 0.730, on the other side, well L-30 got the value of 0.706. Wavelet used in this kind of process was statistical wavelet with the type of Ricker. The frequency was 25 Hz and rotated at 45o of phase. After that, layers were interpreted by doing horizon picking on Upper Missisauga (-2125 to -1875 ms), Middle Missisauga (-2125 to -2000 ms), and Lower Missisauga (-2625 to -2325 ms). The application of spectral decomposition attribute was done by Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) method. The frequency used were 7 Hz, 16.7 Hz, and 40 Hz. The Frequency selection was based on the spectrum formation of the seismic data sued. After that, color blending analysis was done to get spectral section result of attribute application. From the study process conducted, it was found that the content of Sandstone on Missisauga Formation had a frequency with the range of 7 Hz – 40 Hz.
