Abstract

Industrial activity in cement production process produces dust emission that has potential to increas environmental pollution. Most of dust is emitted through chimney and dispersed around industrial area, according to local meteorological conditions. In this research have analyzed the quantity of dust emission from the chimney of the cement industry and the pattern of its distribution.
Distribution patterns were distinguished in dry season and rainy season period. The pattern of dust dispersion around industrial area was estimated using Gauss model equation. Air characteristics used climatic data of Juanda meteorological station, observation period 2016 until 2017. The results of wind pattern analysis were depicted in wind roses. The stability of the atmosphere was determined by wind speed and daily radiation. Ambient concentration on receiver points were calculated with a change of 100 meters in the direction of the wind (x- axis) from the chimney and the direction perpendicular to the wind direction (yaxis) from the chimney. These results were analyzed and illustrated on concentration contour map overlayed industrial area. The results showed that the pattern of wind in the dry season (April to September) was dominant to the east, while in the rainy season (October to March) was dominant to the west. The atmospheric stability obtained during the dry and wet season was class B (unstable) and class C (slightly stable). The model calculations showed the highest dust concentration from multiple point sources in dry season period was 444.26 ?g/m3 at coordinates (597477.4 m; 9246348 m). While the highest dust concentration in rainy season period was 547.24 ?g/m3 at coordinates (597877.4 m; 9246348 m). The average concentration of the dust emission distribution that fell down into 1.5 meter above ground level during the rainy season was greater than the dry season. Most of the dust fell down into industrial
area.
