Abstract

Pada operasi mesin motor, ruang pembakaran akan menghasilkan tekanan dan temperatur gas yang tinggi sehingga untuk mencegah kebocoran kompresi ini pada piston dipasang ring guna memperkecil celah antara dinding cylinder liner dengan piston yang bergerak bolak balik. Gesekan antara ring piston dan cylinder liner menyebabkan permukaan silinder tergerus hingga mengakibatkan hilangnya material dari komponen, peristiwa tergerusnya permukaan lain oleh partikel yang lebih keras disebut Abrasive wear atau keausan abrasif. Keausan dapat dikurangi dengan memilih bahan cylinder liner yang bersifat tahan terhadap gesekan sekaligus memiliki pemuaian rendah, sifat ini dimiliki oleh grey cast iron. Untuk meningkatkan ketahanan aus pada penelitian ini dilakukan proteksi lebih berupa pelapisan logam FeCrNiMnCSi pada substrat grey cast iron FC 25 menggunakkan metode wire arc spray, dengan variasi jarak spray 100mm, 150mm, 200mm, dan 250mm. Hasil uji porositas menunjukkan bahwa semakin jauh jarak spray maka nilai porositasnya semakin kecil, didapatkan presentase nilai porositas terendah 5,4974% pada jarak spray 250mm. Sementara hasil pengujian ketahanan abrasiv menunjukkan nilai ketahanan abrasif tertingi sebesar 27,688rotation/mg dengan jarak spray 250mm. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin jauh jarak spray nilai ketahanan abrasif semakin besar.

coating on gray cast iron FC 25 substrate
has been added
using wire arc spray method with variation of spray
distance
of 100mm, 150mm, 200mm and 250mm. Porosity test results
showed that the

r distance spray
,

e porosity value is
smaller, obtained percentage of the lowest porosity value of
5.4974% at 250mm spray spacing. While the abrasive
resistance test results show the highest abrasive resistance
value of
27,688
