Abstract

Floating structure has been used widely for the exploration and production oil and gas in deepsea. SPAR (Single Point Anchor Reservoir) is floating structure that used for store oil and gas in deepsea. SPAR is consist of vertical sylinder that provide buoyancy to support the facilities above the surface of water. To keep its position when operates, SPAR uses conventional mooring system or taut catenary mooring lines. In this research, experiment SPAR model using froud scale 1:125 in free floating and moored condition with variation of mooring system configuration (taut, catenary 1, and catenary 2) is carried out in Hydrodynamics Laboratory ITS. The purpose of this research is to know the characteristic behavior of SPAR motion (surge, heave, pitch) and maximum mooring line tension in dynamic function presented using RAO motion and RAO tension. The result of experiment will be compared with the analytical and numerical result using MOSES EDITOR.
From the result of this research concluded that for the free floating and moored condition, RAO motion of the model changes significantly. Then, for the variation of mooring system configuration concluded that RAO motion when the model using taut mooring is less than using catenary mooring. So, the effect of mooring line type is significant for RAO motion. For the RAO tension mooring line, the tension line that occur in catenary mooring is more than taut mooring because the offset when using catenary mooring is high and the increasing weight of the mooring line made the tension is more higher than taut mooring.
