Abstract

Oil and gas exploration and production activities always require periodic supplies to serve a wide range of needs to offshore platforms, including food, clean water, fuel, and equipment for the exertion purposes. The ship type which can provide all the needs is the utility/supply vessel. A low-voltage generator is used to supply the required power of the vessel. Due the large amount of power that the ship equipment needed, the current result will be large as well. The discussion of this research is emphased on the replacement of low-voltage generators into medium-voltage generators using load flow analysis and short circuit. In the simulation of load flow analysis obtained the value of current and power which will be used as a comparison. From this research, on main bus obtained that the current value of low-voltage generator is equal to 920 Ampere and at medium-voltage generator is equal to 73,7 Ampere, while for the power on main bus obtained by the low-voltage generator is equal to 707 kW and on the medium-voltage generator is equal to 739 kW. Based on short circuit analysis, a short-circuit current when sailing with low-voltage generators is equal to 35.9 kA while with medium-voltage generator is equal to 2.5 kA at the main bus. When maneuvering, at the main bus on the low-voltage generator produce short-circuit current of 35.9 and in the medium-voltage generator of 2.5 kA. The loading and unloading at the main bus on the low-voltage generator resulted in a short-circuit current value of 36 kA and in the medium-voltage generator of 2.5 kA.
