Abstract

Perkembangan dunia otomotif tiap tahun semakin berkembang, akan tetapi tidak diimbangi dengan ketersediaan energi fosil sebagai bahan bakar. Penelitian mengenai energi alternatif semakin gencar dilakukan dengan bahan baku alamiah. Salah satu energi alternatif yang digunakan pada motor pembakaran dalam 4 tak adalah ethanol. Basudewo Ethanol Car Team menawarkan solusi dengan memodifikasi engine guna sesuai dengan spesifikasi ethanol sebagai bahan bakar. Tentunya perlu dilakukan penelitian kajian numerik maupun eksperimen praktikum guna mengetahui performa engine. Salah satu metode kajian numerik adalah menggunakan software Lotus Engine Simulation (LES). Dalam penggunaan metode ini, diperlukan pengukuran serta penentuan dimensi dari engine dan faktor lainnya. Dari hasil yang didapat melalui simulasi LES terhadap tiap engine, dapat disimpulkan bahwa performa Basudewo 3 Evo secara umum lebih baik dibandingkan dengan Basudewo 1. Pada 3250 RPM, engine Basudewo 3 Evo memiliki performa Brake Torque senilai +2,79%, Brake Power senilai +3%, BMEP senilai -0,78%, BSFC senilai -1,02%, dan Volumetric Efficiency senilai -0,01%. Research on alternative energy intensively conducted with natural raw materials. One of the alternative energy used in 4 stroke internal combustion engine is ethanol. Basudewo ethanol Car Team give some solution to modified internal combustion engine which can use ethanol as fuel. Absolutely, need a numerical research or experimental trial to find engine performance. One of kind numerical research is using Lotus Engine Simulation (LES) software. For using this method, we need to measure the dimension of engine and choose another factor. From the results of LES simulation for each engine, generally the engine which have the best performance is Basudewo 3 Evo it is compare with Basudewo 1. In 3250 RPM, Basudewo 3 Evo engine have performance of Brake Torque amount +2,79%, Brake Power amount +3%, BMEP amount -0,78%, BSFC amount -1,02% and Volumetric Efficiency amount -0,01%.
