Abstract

Musik jazz kini menjadi tren di kota Surabaya. Musik yang dahulu hanya dinikmati oleh kaum bangsawan ini, kini dinikmati oleh banyak kalangan, terutama pemuda. Berdasarkan data kuesioner terhadap pengungjung Jazz Traffic Festival 2015, sebanyak 58,6% tidak mengerti tentang Jazz dan 52,9% hanya mendengarkan Pop Jazz. Padahal event ini berupaya meningkatkan apresiasi masyarakat Surabaya terhadap musik Jazz. Media yang digunakan di event tersebut hanya berupa poster dan backdrop yang berisi informasi mengenai sejarah musik Jazz. Maka dari itu, perlu adanya sarana edukasi baru untuk perkembangan selanjutnya, yang sesuai dengan segmen penikmat musik Jazz masa kini. Media yang dipilih adalah yang mencerminkan karakter target audiens. Maka media yang sesuai adalah media audio visual.
Metode yang digunakan adalah kuesioner, depth interview, observasi lapangan. Kuesioner dilakukan pada 100 responden yang merupakan pengunjung Jazz Traffic Festival 2015. Depth interview dilakukan dengan musisi-musisi Jazz Surabaya. Kemudian observasi dilakukan di Jazz Traffic Festival 2016 sebagai sampel dari media edukasi musik Jazz di Surabaya. Perancangan ini menghasilkan output berupa film dokumenter seri.
Target audiens mendapatkan pengetahuan melalui film dokumenter ini karena film telah dibagi menjadi 5 seri yang telah disesuaikan dengan tipe event musik yang digemari segmen tersebut. Media ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat Surabaya.

Jazz is now a trend in Surabaya. The music that previously only enjoyed by the nobility, is now enjoyed by many people, especially youth. Based on the questionnaire data from Jazz Traffic Festival 2015 visitors, as much as 58.6% do not understand about Jazz and 52.9% only listen to Pop Jazz. In fact, this event is held to increase the appreciation of the people of Surabaya to Jazz music. The media used in the event is just a poster and backdrop containing information about the history of Jazz music. But these posters and backdrops have less readability and legibility. Therefore, Surabaya needs a new kind of educational facility for further development, in accordance with the segment of today's Jazz music lovers. This media should reflect the target audience's character. Then the appropriate educational facility is audio visual media.
The method used is questionnaire, depth interview, field observation. Questionnaires were conducted on 100 respondents who are visitors of Jazz Traffic Festival 2015. Depth interview was conducted with Jazz musicians Surabaya. Then the observations were conducted at Jazz Traffic Festival 2016 as a sample of Jazz music education media in Surabaya. This design produces output in the form of documentary series.
The target audience gets knowledge through this documentary because the movie has been divided into 5 series that have been adapted to the type of music event that the segment favored. This media is expected to increase the knowledge of the people of Surabaya.
