Abstract

Dalam industri perkapalan, mesin penggerak yang paling
banyak digunakan adalah mesin diesel. Banyak solusi telah
ditemukan untuk menangani permasalahan terkait polusi yang
dihasilkan oleh gas buang bahan bakar minyak dan jauh lebih
ekonomis. Beberapa diantaranya adalah pemakaian biodiesel
sebagai bahan bakar alternatif pengganti solar karena lebih ramah
lingkungan dan ketersediaannya yang tidak terbatas karena
berasal dari sumber nabati yang dapat diperbarui.
Bahan bakar alternatif lain yang dapat mengurangi emisi
pada gas buang diesel adalah menggunakan sistem baru pada
bahan bakar kendaraan, yaitu sistem bahan bakar ganda, atau
lebih dikenal dengan Dual Fuel System. Sistem bahan bakar
ganda ini lebih ramah lingkungan, karena emisi gas buang yang
dihasilkan tidak lebih besar dari sistem bahan bakar tunggal.Dual
Fuel System ini juga dinilai jauh lebih ekonomis.
Dalam tugas akhir ini akan dirancang dan dibangun sistem
Diesel Dual Fuel dengan bahan bakar tambahan berupa
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) dan sistem penginjeksian diatur
oleh PLC (Programmable Logic Control) dan sensor pada mesin.

In the shipping industry, diesel engine is the most
widely used. Many solutions have been found to handle
problems about pollution generated by the exhaust gas and
fuel oil is much more economical. Some of them use of
biodiesel as an alternative fuel substitute for diesel oil
because it is more environmentally friendly and availability
are not limited because it comes from renewable sources.
Other alternative fuels that can reduce emissions in
diesel exhaust is using the new system on vehicle fuels, that
is dual-fuel system, or better known as the Dual Fuel
System. Dual fuel system is more environmentally friendly,
because the exhaust emissions produced is not greater than
the single fuel system. Dual Fuel System is also considered
much more economical.
In this final project will be designed and constructed
Diesel Dual Fuel system with additional fuel in the form of
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and injection system is
Controlled` by a PLC (Programmable Logic Control) and
sensors on the engine.
