Abstract

Modifikasi pada system propulsi banyak dilakukan demi memenuhi performa kapal. Salah satu kajian yang dilakukan adalah modifikasi pada system propulsi dengan penambahan propeller baru. Perubahan system propulsi dari single srew propeller menjadi triple screw propeller akan berpengaruh terhadap tahanan kapal yang dihasilkan, serta kecepatan kapal dan kebutuhan dari daya engine. Fokus dari penelitian ini adalah besarnya nilai tahanan kapal yang dihasilkan ketika kapal beroperasi dengan twins propeller dengan tahanan tambahan satu propeller diam dan ketika kapal beroperasi dengan single propeller dengan tahanan tambahan twins propeller diam. Simulasi dilakukan dengan metode Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Berdasarkan hasil analisa Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) dapat dilihat bahwa nilai tahanan kapal pada kecepatan maximum 17,5 knot pada kondisi lambung kapal tanpa adanya propeller sebesar 238,472 kN, pada kondisi lambung kapal dengan adanya tambahan single propeller diam sebesar 294,475 kN, pada kondisi lambung kapal dengan adanya tambahan twin propeller diam sebesar 266,886 kN.

Modification to the propulsion system are mostly done to meet the performance of the ship. One of the studies conducted is modification on the propulsion system with the addition of new propeller. The change of the propulsion system from single srew propeller to triple screw propeller will affect the ship resistance, as well as the speed of the vessel and the need of engine power. The focus of this study is the magnitude of the vessel resistance value generated when the ship operates with twins propellers with the additional resistance of one silver propeller and when the ship operates with a single propeller with the additional resistance of the twins propeller on idle condition. The simulation is done by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method. Based on the results of Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis (CFD) can be seen at the maximum size of 17.5 knots on the hull condition of the ship without the presence of propeller of 238,472 kN, on the hull condition of the ship with the addition of single propeller silent of 294.475 kN, on the state of the ship's hull additional twin propeller silenct of 266,886 kN.
