Abstract

Commercial Pure Titanium Grade 2 (CP-Ti) digunakan
sebagai tube condenser PLTU Paiton. CP Ti Grade 2 dipilih
sebagai tube condenser karena memiliki keunggulan pada
kombinasi sifat mekanik seperti massa jenis yang lebih rendah,
kekuatan yang lebih baik, tahan korosi yang sangat baik,
weldability yang sangat baik serta machinability yang baik. Saat
proses pemakaian terjadi kegagalan sebelum umur pakai.
Kegagalan diakibatkan oleh abrasi deposit, mechanical damage,
dan ukuran butir yang tidak homogen akibat proses kondensasi
pada kondensor. Oleh karena itu tube condenser bekas yang
ingin diketahui apakah tube condenser tersebut dapat berubah
kekuatan dan kekerasannya dengan mengubah struktur mikro
dari perlakuan panas dengan variasi perlakuan panas, yaitu
Annealing, Quenching media air dan Quenching media air
dengan penambahan Stress Relief.
Pada perlakuan panas CP-Ti Grade 2, mula-mula 3
spesimen dipanaskan hingga temperatur 950oC, ditahan selama
15 menit dan didingiinkan di dalam dapur (Annealing). Untuk 3
spesimen lainnya dipanaskan hingga temperatur 950ºC, ditahan
ii
selama 15 menit kemudian didinginkan dengan metode quenching
dengan air. Tiga spesimen lainnya dipanaskan hingga
temperature 950 ºC kemudian diquenching dengan air lalu
dipanaskan kembali hingga temperatur 520ºC ditahan 30 menit,
material tersebut didinginkan di luar dapur. Semua spesimen
tersebut akan diuji struktur mikro, XRD, uji tarik dan uji
kekerasan.
Hasil yang didapatkan pada perlakuan annealing yaitu
perubahan struktur mikro dari alpha menjadi alpha lamellar dan
coarse alpha dengan nilai kekerasan rata rata 274.98 HVN dan
nilai UTS 298.94 MPa. Perlakuan Quenching media air
didapatkan perubahan struktur mikro menjadi alpha lamellar,
coarse Alpha dan Beta dengan nilai kekerasan rata rata 255.99
HVN dan nilai UTS rata rata 357.74 MPa. Perlakuan Quenching
lalu stress Relief didapatkan perubahan struktur mikro menjadi
fine alpha lamellar, coarse Alpha dan Beta dengan nilai
kekerasan rata rata 268.33HVNdan nilai UTS rata rata 332.68
MPa.

as it has advantages on a combination of mechanical properties like
lower density, a better strength, excellent corrosion resistant, excellent
weldability and good machinability. During the process of discharging
failure occurred before age wear. Failure caused by abrasion,
mechanical damage deposit, and grain size which is not homogeneous
due to condensation on the condenser. Therefore a condenser tube used
to known whether such a condenser tube may change the power and
violence by changing the microstructure of heat treatment with the
variation of heat treatment, i.e., Annealing, Water Quenching and Water
Quenching with the addition of Stress Relief.
In the heat treatment of CP - Ti Grade 2 , Three specimens
initially heated to a temperature of 950ºC , hold for 15 minutes and
cooling in the furnace ( Annealing ) . For three other specimens heated
to a temperature of 950ºC , was detained for 15 minutes and then cooled
by water quenching method . Three other specimens were heated to
temperatures of 950 ° C then water quenching and reheated to a
temperature of 520ºC on hold 30 minutes , the material is cooled outside
furnace. All specimens will be tested microstructure , XRD , tensile
strength and hardness test .

Results obtained on annealing treatment that changes the
microstructure of the alpha to alpha and coarse lamellar alpha with an
average hardness value of 274.98 HVN and 298.94 MPa UTS value .
Quenching water treatment media obtained changes to alpha lamellar
microstructure , coarse Alpha and Beta with an average hardness value
255.99 HVN and the average value of UTS 357.74 MPa. Quenching
treatment and stress relief obtained microstructure changes into fine
lamellar alpha , Alpha and Beta coarse with an average hardness value
268.33 HVN dan average value of UTS 332.68 MPa .
