Abstract

=========================================================================================================== The development of solar energy technology tried to improve solar panels by considering position of the Sun. This research used Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) and Model Predictive Control (MPC) applied to the combination of active-passive methods on dual-axis solar tracking system. An active-passive control system could minimize the effect of external disturbance imposed to the system, such as interference in angular change, light intensity, and a combination of both disturbances. The FLC controller used light sensor as a reference to determine the value of control variable to eliminate the uncertainty factor in the control system. At the other hand, the MPC controller was able to provide the appropriate value of control variable according to the reference of altitude and azimuth solar angles. Based on the simulation results, the solar panel using passive control MPC had the best mean absolute error performance in ideal condition. In simulated conditions with disturbances, solar panel that used active-passive FLC-MPC had a deal with disturbances and able to recover the disturbance quickly. Based on the simulation of power generated, solar panel with FLC-MPC produced the best efficiency about 42.64%.
