Abstract

Heavy equipment is the one of commonly used equipment in mining industry, ordinarily the company relies on leasing company to accommodate the heavy equipment. Hereby, the leasing company called as lessor that leases the equipment to mining company as lessee. When the breakdown comes up it needs to do a certain maintenance (PM/CM), thoroughly in charge by the lessor. Lessee would pay the lease as much as actual availability. Moreover, there is a minimum availability which must be met by the lessor. For a single device, the optimal PM policy can be easily derived such that the expected cost to the lessor is minimized. However, for the case where multiple non-identical devices are leased by the same lessee, the number of PM actions, the cumulative downtime, and expected total maintenance cost will increase dramatically according to the optimal PM policy for each device. Grouping PM policy hopefully can increase availability and reduce maintenance cost. Grouping maintenance equipment from all possibility grouping maintenance optimal cost perfomed by this research. Availability measurement done after the optimal time obtained from grouping maintenance policy result. By following these steps, the optimal grouping maintenance for Caterpillar and Komatsu are six and four groups that can increase expected availability approximately 96,131% and 95,6874%, respectively. Scheduling maintenance in each group also done based on the optimum interval time for grouping maintenance.
