Abstract

Usaha pencucian jeans merupakan usaha pencucian dan pemutihan Jeans setelah dilakukan pewarnaan pada Jeans. Hasil buangan dari proses pencucian Jeans sebagian besar langsung dibuang pada badan air atau sungai, sehingga akan mencemari lingkungan. Perlu adanya suatu unit pengolahan sederhana untuk menurunkan beban polutan pada pencucian Jeans. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penurunan beban polutan dalam air limbah pencucian Jeans .
Penelitian skala laboratorium dengan menggunakan reaktor yang telah direncanakan. Desain reaktor terdiri dari bak koagulasi flokulasi, bak pengendap serta bak filtrasi. Untuk unit koagulasi flokulasi, unit bak pengendap dan unit filtrasi digunakan reaktor dari kaca dengan ukuran yang menyesuaikan debit untuk mengolah air bekas pencucian jeans. Sedangkan alat yang digunakan untuk penentuan jenis koagulan yaitu dengan alat berupa jar test. Studi dilakukan pada industri rumah tangga pencucian jeans daerah Pesapen Selatan Surabaya. Penelitian ini akan dimulai dengan peneltiain pendahuluan untuk mengetahui karakteristik limbah serta penentuan dosis optimum penambahan tawas dan PAC. Variabel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah jenis koagulan dan variasi media filter. Parameter yang diamati adalah COD, TSS, kekeruhan, dan warna.
Secara keseluruhan, pengolahan air limbah bekas pencucian jeans menggunakan rangkaian proses koagulasi flokulasi dan filtrasi dapat menurunkan COD berkisar antara 78% - 82%, TSS antara 93% - 94%, kekeruhan hingga 99% dan warna hingga 98%. Efisiensi penurunan parameter pencemar menggunakan koagulan dan media filter hampir sama dan tidak terlalu signifikan perbedaannya.

Jeans washing business is a business of laundering and bleaching Jeans after coloring on Jeans. The waste products from the washing process of Jeans are mostly directly discharged on bodies of water or rivers, thus polluting the environment. It is necessary to have a simple processing unit to reduce the pollutant load on Jeans washing. The objective of this research is to know the decrease of pollutant load in Jeans washing water wastewater.
Laboratory scale studies using planned reactors. The reactor design comprises a flocculation coagulation tub, a settling tub and a filtration bath. For the flocculation coagulation unit, the crankcase and filtration units are used glass reactors with sizes that adjust the discharge to treat the ex-wash water of the jeans. While the tool used for the determination of the type of coagulant is by means of a jar test. The study was conducted in the household sanitary washing industry of Pesapen Selatan Surabaya. This study will begin with preliminary investigators to determine the characteristics of the waste as well as the determination of the optimum dosage of alum and PAC addition. The variables used in this research are coagulant type and filter media variation. The parameters observed were COD, TSS, turbidity, and color.
Overall, wastewater treatment of jeans using a series of flocculation and filtration coagulation processes can reduce COD between 78% - 82%, TSS between 93% - 94%, turbidity up to 99% and color up to 98%. The efficiency of decreasing the pollutant parameters using coagulant and filter media is almost equal and not significantly different.
