Abstract

Pipeline is one of the alternative methods that are used to transport oil and gas to onshore. Using pipeline to transport oil and gas will reduce the production cost of oil and gas. There are some codes that can be used as a reference in calculating pipe wall thickness. In this research, code that is used as a reference is API RP 1111. Some criteria that must be fulfilled in API RP 1111 are Bursting due to Internal Pressure, Collapse due to External Pressure, Buckling due to Combined Load, and Propagating Buckles. From the criteria, wall thicknesses that is calculated from the calculation will be chosen from the Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) Table. Installation is done by S-Lay method. S-Lay is one of the most common methods in offshore pipeline installation. In this method, there are two critical parts that produce the highest stress along the pipe (overbend and sagbend). Analysis that is done is dynamic analysis, so the movement of the vessel is considered. According to DNV OS F101, to prevent failure in this offshore pipeline installation, total stress in these parts must not exceed 87% from the yield stress of the pipe. This analysis is used to calculate the total stress in overbend and sagbend so that the pipeline will not fail. The diameter of the pipeline is 14 inch in 1426 m water depth.
