Abstract

Batubara merupakan salah satu bahan bakar alternatif yang banyak dimanfaatkan untuk kegiatan industri. Dalam pemanfaatannya di industri, pembakaran batubara menyebabkan polutan dan emisi CO2 yang tinggi. Gas-gas polutan seperti N, NO2, SO2, dan SO3 di jalur off gas sangat berkontribusi dalam kasus mekanisme korosi di cerobong (stack), dimana udara off gas mengandung sifat keasaman yang tinggi. Salah satu cara untuk mencegah terjadinya korosi adalah dengan menambahkan inhibitor. Inhibitor korosi merupakan suatu zat kimia yang ditambahkan ke dalam lingkungan korosif, meskipun dengan jumlah yang sedikit tetapi dapat menurunkan laju korosi logam. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa adanya inhibitor methylene blue mampu menghambat terjadinya korosi yang terjadi pada baja SS 316L, hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan tidak terjadi perubahan warna pada sampel ketika di uji pada suhu 100 °C. Sedangkan konsentrasi inhibitor sangat mempengaruhi kefektifan dari kinerja inhibitor dalam menurunkan laju korosi, dimana penurunan laju korosi dapat terjadi seiring dengan penambahan konsentrasi pada inhibitor. Penurunan laju korosi terbesar terjadi pada penambahan konsentrasi 120ppm yaitu sebesar 0,07352001 mm/year pada suhu 60 °C dan 0,06126667 mm/year pada temperatur 100 °C.

Coal is one of the alternative fuels that are used for industrial process. In industrial application, coal combustion causes high pollutants and CO2 emissions. Gaseous pollutants such as N, NO2, SO2, and SO3 in off gas lines strongly contribute to the case of corrosion mechanisms in the stack, where the air in the off gas contains high acidity properties. One way to prevent the corrosion is adding inhibitors. A corrosion inhibitor is a chemical substance that added to the corrosive environment, even though small amount of inhibitors but it can decrease the rate of corrosion of the metal. The test results show the presence of methylene blue inhibitors could inhibit the occurrence of corrosion in SS 316L, it was evidenced by the absence of color change in the sample when tested at 100 °C. Beside that, the inhibitor concentration had greatly influences to the effectiveness of the inhibitor performance in decreasing the corrosion rate, where the decreasing of corrosion rate can occur along with the addition of concentration in the inhibitor. The higher change of corrosion rate occurred at 120 ppm concentration of 0.07352001 mm/year at 60 °C and 0.06126667 mm year at 100 °C.
