Abstract

==================================================================================================================
The extent of the use of welding technology is because the process is simpler so that production costs become cheaper. There are five basic types of connections in welding that are commonly applied in the fabrication world. The five types of welding connections include butt joints, lap joints, T-joints, edge joints, and corner joints. The connection has different characteristics according to the condition of the material being worked on. Although the welding process looks very simple, but in fact there are many problems that must be overcome. Like cracks that occur due to overvoltage, distortions that occur due to weld metal contractions during welding that push / pull workpieces and so on. The problem that will be reviewed in this final project is angular distortion due to residual stress. Residual stress or residual stress is the stress that occurs due to tensile and compressive forces due to heat in the area around the weld seam that is spread unevenly which will cause distortion. In this final project an experimental and numerical study was carried out on the effect of variations in welding sequences on angular distortion. With the implementation of these two methods, it is expected to get a more effective variation in the welding sequence. Based on the results of experimental and modeling data validation, variations in jump welding sequences are welding sequences that produce the minimum minimum angle distortion.
