Abstract

Pengukuran suseptibilitas magnetik di bidang geofisika dan petrofisika pada umumnya membutuhkan biaya yang mahal dan proses yang kompleks. Berkembangnya teknologi mikrokontroler di masyarakat dapat membantu pengukuran suseptibilitas magnetik batuan di bidang geofisika. Suseptibilitas magnetik merupakan suatu nilai derajat material untuk dapat dimagnetisasi, suatu material dapat diklasifikasi menjadi paramagnetik, diamagnetik atau ferromagnetik berdasarkan nilai suseptibilitasnya. Dilakukan rancang bangun alat pengukur suseptibilitas dan karakterisasi kemagnetan dengan memanfaatkan mikrokontroler Arduino, ADC 16 bit, dan program Matlab. Pengukuran dilakukan dengan cara menggulung 250 lilitan kawat pada sampel yang akan memberikan medan magnet eksternal bagi sampel sehingga terbentuk medan induksi pada sampel. Sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah udara, batang besi tidak murni, bubuk sulfur, tanah berpasir, dan tanah humus. Hasil suseptibilitas magnetik udara didapat sebesar 0,0233, besi sebesar 1,505, sulfur sebesar -0,02, tanah berpasir sebesar 0,06, dan tanah humus sebesar -0,005. Hasil yang telah diolah menunjukan ketidakpastian pada nilai suseptibilitas sebesar 10-2 hingga 10-3 yang dipengaruhi oleh lingkungan pengukuran. Grafik B terhadap H dapat menunjukan secara garis besar karakterisasi magnetik material tersebut===============================================================Magnetic susceptibility measurement in geophysics and petrophysics field used to be expensive and require complex process. Technological advancement in microprocessor among civilian community could help magnetic susceptibility measurement much easier in geophysics field. Magnetic susceptibility is a property of one material to be magnetize, material with a specific susceptibility value can be determine as if it paramagnetic, diamagnetic, or ferromagnetic. A prototype design has been built to measure magnetic susceptibility and shows its magnetic characteristic with the help of an Arduino microcontroller, 16 bit ADC, and a Matlab program. Measurement is done by winding a coil up to 250 turns around a sample which giving it an external magnetic field so that induction field is form from the sample, sample that were used are air, a not so pure iron cylinder, sulphur powder, sandy soil, and a humus soil. The result for susceptibility of air is 0.0233, for iron cylinder is 1.505, sulphur is -0.002, sandy soil is 0.06 and for humus soil sample is -0.005, processed data shows of error around 10-2 to 10-3 that probably caused by the noise of the environment. Graph B against H shows each of the samples its magnetic characteristic.
