Abstract

Pembuatan cangkang kapsul halal berbahan dasar umbi porang (Amorphophallus oncophillus) telah berhasil dilakukan. Glukomanan diekstrak dari umbi porang (A. oncophillus) menggunakan pelarut etanol 50%. Glukomanan hasil ekstraksi berupa tepung. Tepung glukomanan sebanyak 4% (b/v) dilarutkan dalam air untuk membentuk gel. Gel glukomanan dengan dan tanpa penambahan ekstrak daun pepaya (Carica papaya L.) dilakukan uji viskositas berdasarkan ASTM D-1200-94. Selanjutnya, gel glukomanan dengan dan tanpa ekstrak daun pepaya (C. papaya L.) dicetak menjadi cangkang kapsul menggunakan dipping pen. Cangkang kapsul yang terbentuk dievaluasi sesuai standar Farmakope Indonesia dan Kapsulindo Nusantara. Spesifikasi fisik menunjukkan bahwa penambahan ekstrak daun pepaya memberikan hasil cangkang kapsul yang lebih tebal dan sesuai dengan standar cangkang kapsul komersial ukuran 00. Pengujian keseragaman bobot kapsul menunjukkan persen penyimpangan tidak lebih dari yang ditetapkan oleh Farmakope Indonesia edisi III. Hasil uji ketahanan cangkang kapsul dalam air dan drug release (uji kelarutan) sesuai standar Kapsulindo Nusantara dan Farmakope Indonesia. Keuntungan dari cangkang kapsul berbahan dasar umbi porang (A. oncophillus) ini adalah mudah larut, efektif sebagai pembawa obat, dan halal. ======================================================================================================== Halal hard capsule was successfully made from porang tube (Amorphophallus oncophillus). The glucomannan was extracted from porang tube (A. oncophillus) using 50% ethanol solvent. The extraction gave glucomanan flour. A 4% (w/v) of glucomannan flour was dissolved using demineralized water to glucomannan gel formation. Viscosity of glucomannan gel with and without papaya (Carica papaya L.) leaf extract was measured based on ASTM D-1200-94. Furthermore, glucomannan gel with and without papaya (C. papaya L.) leaf extract was formed into hard capsule using dipping pen. Hard capsule was evaluated based on Farmakope Indonesia and Kapsulindo Nusantara. The physical specification test shows that the addition papaya (C. papaya L.) leaf extract gave thicker hard capsule and suitable with commercial hard capsule (size 00). Weight uniformity test of hard capsule shows that deviation procentage compatible by Farmakope Indonesia 3rd Edition. Resistance of hard capsule in water and drug release test (solubility test) are suitable with Kapsulindo Nusantara and Farmakope Indonesia. The advantages of hard capsule from porang tube (A. oncophillus) are rapid drug released possible, flexibility formulated, and halal.
