Abstract

Penggunaan gas hasil elektrolisis (Gas HHO) adalah salah satu bahan bakar alternative yang dapat mereduksi onsumsi bahan bakar dan dapat menyempurnakan proses pembakaran. Elektrolisis adalah penguraian larutan elektrolit oleh arus listrik untuk mengasilkan gas terutama Hidrogen-Hidrogen Oksigen (HHO). Cara kerjanya adalah dengan enginjeksikan gas HHO melalui intake manifold. Dengan penambahan gas ini dapat meningkatkan nilai kalor bahan bakar sehingga proses pembakaran lebih sempurna dan konsumsi bahan bakar menurun. Penelitian dilakukan dengan penambahan debit gas mulai dari 4,17cc/s; 6,757cc/s; dan 9,62cc/s. Eksperimen dilakukan dengan menggunakan motor diesel satu silinder tipe YANMAR TF85-MHDI. 4. Penghematan konsumsi bahan bakar minyak secara garis besar mengalami penurunan. Energi yang dihasilkan gas HHO kecil namun dapat menghemat bahan bakar minyak yang cukup banyak. Hal ini dapat terjadi, karena pada proses pembakaran, max pressure dan peak of heat release meningkat dengan penambahan gas HHO. Hasil pada combustion process menunjukkan bahwa penambahan gas HHO menyebabkan peak of combustion pressure menjadi lebih tinggi dan rate of heat release (ROHR) mengalami peningkatan. Sedangkan hasil uji emisi menunjukan adanya peningkatan NOx, hal ini disebabkan reaksi pembentukan NOx terjadi pada temperature tinggi. ============================================================================================== Gas derived from electrolysis (HHO Gas) is one of the alternatives that are able to reduce fuel consumtion and perfect the combustion process. Electrolysis is the disintegration of electrolytes by using electric current to produce gas Hydrogen-Hidogen Oxygen (HHO) in particular. This process is done by injecting HHO gas through the manifold intake. The injected gas will increase fuel heat, therefore, the combustion process is more complete and the fuel consumtion is decreased. The research is conducted by gradually adding the gas flow rate from 4,17cc/s; 6,757cc/s; and 9,62cc/s. The experiment is done by using one cylinder diesel motor type YANMAR TF85-MH. 2. There is a decrease in fuel savings. The decrease in fuel consumption cannot compare to the energy produced by HHO gas, the fuel consumption saving was quite huge even though the energy derived from HHO gas was small. This is possible because with the addition of HHO gas during combustion, the maximum pressure and peak of heat release increases. The result on the combustion process indicates that the HHO gas addition causes an increase in the peak of combustion pressure and enhanced the rate of heat release (ROHR), whereas the result of emission test indicates an increase in NOx, this is because NOx forms at high temperature.
