Abstract

=====================================================================================================
The availability of fossil fuels for the operation of diesel engine is now diminishing. The environmental issues related to global warming, one of them about air pollution is very worrying. The use of palm oil as a fuel can be one way out the reduced availability of fossil fuels for the operation of diesel engines. The use of palm oil biodiesel has high levels of NOx emissions. The addition of water to the fuel can provide an answer to reduce the NOx emissions of diesel engine. This study discusses the utilization of crude palm oil and the addition of water in fuel. This experiment using several variations of fuel. The emulsion fuel variables used are DWE 10% & 15%. The analyzes include performance, combustion process and NOx emissions. From the results of performance testing on diesel engines, the use of DWE 10% and 15% resulted in lower performance than B20 palm oil and Dexlite, the value of SFOC both fuel is 377.3 gr / kWh and 410.4 gr / kWh . From the combustion test results, DWE 10% and 15% has a longer ignition delay in combustion pressure peak which is lower than B20 and Dexlite fuel. DWE 10% and 15% have NOx of 2.6 g / kWh and 2.5 g / kWh at 2200 RPM at 100% Load.
