Abstract

Pertumbuhan eceng gondok yang pesat menyebabkan keberadaan limbah
eceng gondok yang melimpah, sehingga perlu ditangani agar tidak menyebabkan
pencemaran lingkungan. Salah satu cara penanganan limbah eceng gondok adalah
mengubah eceng gondok menjadi bioetanol. Kandungan hemiselulosa dan
selulosa yang terdapat pada eceng gondok berpotensi untuk diuraikan menjadi
glukosa yang selanjutnya difermentasi sehingga menghasilkan bioetanol.
Proses pembentukan bioetanol terdiri dari pretreatment, hidrolisis dan
fermentasi. Pada penelitian ini proses hidrolisis dilakukan secara simultan, atau
Simultaneous Saccharification and Fermentation. Pretreatment eceng gondok
menggunakan P. chrysosporium yang ditambahkan kedalam reaktor berisi
substrat eceng gondok dengan waktu inkubasi selama sepuluh hari. Setelah
sepuluh hari substrat yang telah diinkubasi dipanaskan pada suhu 1˚0C0 selama
satu jam. Proses dilanjutkan dengan menambahkan mikroorganisme untuk
hidrolisis yaitu T. viride sebanyak 13,3 mL dan A. niger sebanyak 6,6 mL.
Tanpa jeda waktu yang lama ditambahkan P. stipitis atau M. indicus sebanyak
10 mL serta aquadest sebanyak 90 mL, kemudian difermentasi selama empat
hari. Selama empat hari masa fermentasi dilakukan pengambilan sampel pada jam
ke 72 dan jam ke 96. Parameter uji adalah kadar hemiselulosa, selulosa, lignin,
gula reduksi dan kadar bioetanol. Pengukuran kadar etanol menggunakan metode
Gas Chromatography.

Pada penelitian ini dihasilkan kadar etanol tertinggi pada P. stipitis
sebesar 0,20 (mg/g) substrat pada reaktor dengan penambahan P. stipitis dengan
konsentrasi 10% (v/v ) dengan substrat eceng gondok 10 gram. Kadar etanol
terendah sebesar 0,124 (mg/g) substrat pada reaktor berisi substrat 20 g dan
konsentrasi P. stipitis 5% (v/v).

The rapid growth of water hyacinth causes the presence of abundant waste
water hyacinth, so that needs to be addressed so as not to cause environmental
pollution. One way of handling waste water hyacinth is to convert the water
hyacinth into bioethanol. The content of hemicellulose and cellulose contained in
the water hyacinth has the potential to be broken down into glucose which then
fermented to produce bioethanol
.
Bioethanol formation process consists of pretreatment, hydrolysis and
fermentation. In this study, the hydrolysis process is done simultaneously, or
Simultaneous Saccharification and Fermentation. Pretreatment hyacinth using P.
chrysosporium were added into the reactor containing the substrate hyacinth with
incubation time for ten days. After ten days that had been incubated substrate was
heated at a temperature of 100˚C for one hour. The process continued by adding
microorganisms to hydrolysis, namely T. viride much as 13.3 mL and A. niger as
much as 6.6 mL. Without pause long time added P. stipitis or M. indicus as much
as 10 mL and 90 mL of distilled water as much, then fermented for four days.

In this study the highest ethanol content was produced in P. stipitis of 0.20
(mg /g) substrate in the reactor with the addition of P. stipitis with a concentration
of 10% (v/v) with 10 grams of water hyacinth substrate. Low ethanol content of
0.124 (mg / g) substrate in the reactor containing 20 g and the concentration of the
substrate P. stipitis 5% (v/v). In the reactor with the addition of M. indicus highest
levels of 0.18 (mg / g) 10 g substrate reactor conditions, 10% (v/v) inoculum 72
hours of fermentation. In the reactor containing 20 g of substrate, inoculum
concentration of 5% (v/v), fermentation time of 96 hours obtained the lowest
levels of 0.01 (mg / g
