Abstract

HDPE (High Density Poliethylene) dan PP (Polypropylene) merupakan jenis sampah plastik yang paling banyak ditemui di perkotaan. Berbagai penelitian telah dilakukan untuk menangani permasalahan sampah tersebut, seperti pembuatan aspal dan struktur bangunan, akan tetapi penilitian tersebut belum mampu mengatasi permasalahan sampah yang ada. Pada penelitian ini dibuat komposit dengan memanfaatkan limbah HDPE, PP, dan serbuk ampas tebu untuk diaplikasikan sebagai material papan partikel ramah lingkungan, agar masalah limbah plastik di Indonesia dapat terselesaikan. Pengujian yang akan dilakukan meliputi uji SEM, uji FTIR, uji kekerasan, uji densitas, uji absorbsi air, uji bending, dan uji tensile. Dari hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa penambahan PP dalam komposit memberikan sifat fisis dan mekanik yang lebih baik dibandingkan penambahan HDPE. Dengan nilai uji bending tertinggi sebesar 28,56 Mpa dan nilai uji tarik tertinggi sebesar 17,62 Mpa. Hasil sampel komposit pada seluruh variasi komposisi menunjukkan semua hasil uji yang telah memenuhi standar SNI.

HDPE (High Density Polyethyelene) an PP (Polypropylene) are the most common types of plastic waste in urban areas. Various studies have been carried out to deal with these waste problems, such as the making of asphalt and building structures, but the research has not been able to overcome the existing garbage problems. In this study, a composite was made by utilizing of HDPE waste, PP waste, and cane dust to be applied as environmentally friendly particle board material, so the problem of plastic waste in Indonesia can be resolved. Testing to be carried out are SEM test, FTIR test, hardness test, density test, water absorption test, bending test, and tensile test. From the research result, noted that addition of PP in the composite gives better physical and mechanical quality compared to addition of HDPE. With the highest bending test value of 28.56 MPa and the highest tensile test value of 17.62 MPa. The results of composite samples on all variations of composition show all test results that have met SNI standards.
