Abstract

PT.

PT. Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang (Pusri) is one of the biggest fertilizer producers in Indonesia. As one of the pioneers of urea fertilizer producers in Indonesia, Pusri's productivity level must be maintained. One of the supporting factors is power supply continuity and a safe working environment for Pusri workers. One of the causes of power supply disconnection is short circuit fault. Short circuit fault can also cause an arc flash phenomenon that is dangerous for human and the equipment itself. This certainly has a direct impact on Pusri's productivity. Therefore a good coordination protection and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is needed. The simulation results using ETAP 12.6 show that in the condition of the existing electrical system Pusri IB there are some coordination errors that cause the incident energy value is too big exceeds the NFPA 70E 2009 standard, so the protection equipment needs to be reset. After resetting the protection coordination, simulations and calculations were carried out using the IEEE 1584-2002 standard to determine PPE according to the hazard risk category in the area. The result of resetting protection coordination is that there are several changes in incident energy values, both increases and decreases because in the previous condition there were protection equipment that worked too fast or too slowly. Also after resetting busses whose incident energy value exceeds the NFPA 70E 2009 have been decreased.
