Abstract

================================================================================================ Air pollution at immovable sources needs necessary emissions control to prevent the decline in ambient air quality. Application of combustion system with incinerator can contribute pollutants to the environment. Incinerator exhaust gas emissions can be overcome by using air pollution control technology that is single packed tower scrubber. This study was conducted to determine the effect of the presence or absence of venturi in a single packed tower scrubber reactor, the diameters and thickness of media packing on the performance of single packed tower scrubber. Packing media that used are marbles with diameter sizes varied by 1 cm, 1,5 cm, and 2 cm. A thickness of media packing is varied by 40 cm, 50 cm, and 60 cm. Parameters that measured were exhaust gas emissions of CO, CO2, SO2, and NO2. Measurement data were tested statistically to determine the effect of every variables and parameters to the efficiency of single packed tower scrubbers. Results of the study showed that media packing thickness of 60 cm and 1 cm diameter had an effect on giving a surface area of the wetted media is greater so that the efficiency increase. Effect of single packed tower scrubbers with the addition of venturi to the efficiency of the wet scrubber when using water absorbent gives a better value of efficiency with an average efficiency is 27.91% (CO), 41.56% (CO2), 43.14% (SO2), and 29.88% (NO2). While single packed tower scrubbers without venturi additions of 9.52% (CO), 13.77% (CO2), 14.75% (SO2), and 13.65% (NO2). And the decrease in exhaust emission of incinerators using single packed tower scrubbers with limestone water absorbent produced the highest emissions allowance for SO2 gas of 71.30%.
