Abstract

Sistem informasi merupakan salah satu hal terpenting dalam suatu perusahaan. Dengan adanya sistem informasi maka kebutuhan organisasi atau perusahaan dapat terpenuhi dengan mudah dan cepat. Di Departemen Informatika ITS terdapat sebuah legacy system, yakni sistem Monitoring Tugas Akhir (MonTA). Sistem MonTA berfungsi sebagai pengelolahan data terkait tugas mahasiswa, penyampaian terkait informasi seputar tugas akhir dan penjadwalan tugas akhir mahasiswa.
Sistem MonTA sudah berjalan sejak lama. Selama sistem ini digunakan, muncul kebutuhan baru dan banyak fitur yang harus segera diperbaiki. Diantaranya adalah adanya penggunaan fitur secara hardcode. Koordinator TA harus membuka kode program terlebih dahulu kemudian memasukan data didalamnya. Selain itu, sistem MonTA juga sulit untuk di maintenance sehingga diperlukan perbaikan secara keseluruhan pada sistem MonTA yang ada di Departemen Informatika ITS. Perbaikan dilakukan dengan menggunakan pendekatan reengineering atau rekayasa ulang pada sistem.
Hasil dari Tugas Akhir ini nantinya akan menghasilkan sistem informasi baru yang lebih baik dalam menangani pengelolaan tugas akhir mahasiswa di Departemen Informatika ITS serta dapat membantu menyelesaikan pekerjaan koordinator TA.

Information system is one of the most important thing in a company. With system information, the things needed by organiztion can be occurred fast and easily. In Department of Informatics ITS there is a system called Monitoring Tugas Akhir (MONTA). MONTA system is used to manage theses data, informing important news about thesis and scheculing thesis.
MONTA system has been used for a long time. While this system is being used, there are some new features and important reparation needed. One of them is accessing the feature by hardcode. Theses coordinator must open up the program code and insert some new data there. Beside, MONTA system is so hard to be repaired. Therefore, the MONTA system in Department of Informatics ITS need to be fully regenerate. The regeneration will be done using reengineering method.
The output of this theses is a new information system that will manage the theses data better in Department of Informatics ITS. And also it will help the MONTA coordiator work on managing the theses data easier than before.
