Abstract

The increase in the population in Jakarta affects the transportation sector, which causes congestion. Jakarta is the top 10 most jammed city in the world. To unravel the congestion that occurred, the need to increase the mass transportation sector, especially buses. Articulated buses are a mass transportation tool that can accommodate many passengers. The high number of these accidents is largely due to driver negligence and lack of stability when driving on the road. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the direction stability of vehicles, especially articulated buses.
The most critical condition of the vehicle is when the vehicle turns. In this study, the analysis will be carried out, namely slip analysis, skid analysis, and bolster analysis to determine the turning behavior of the articulated bus. There are several variations used in this study, namely variations in speed, variations in turning angles and variations in coefficient of friction. from the data obtained, it is expected that the drivers can adjust the speed when turning. In addition, it also provides information to the driver to be able to find out the behavior of the direction of turning the vehicle and also the speed limit so that the vehicle remains stable.
Good direction stability for articulated bus vehicles when the vehicle is in conditions 4 and 1 where based on each slip, skid and rolling analysis good results are obtained compared to the others. when the values Kus are -0.66 and -0.76 where the higher minus points indicate the high oversteer. In addition, conditions 1 and 4 have the highest skid speed values, namely 60.54 and 60.53 and also high rolling speed values 177.7 and 172.43
