Abstract

Pada penelitian ini telah disintesis katalis M1-xZnxF2 (x = 0,000 0,025; 0,050; 0,075; 0,100; 0,150) dengan metode sol-gel. Struktur kristal katalis dikarakterisasi dengan X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), sifat keasaman ditentukan dengan metode adsorpsi piridin-FTIR dan luas permukaan spesifik (SBET) katalis diukur dengan metode adsorpsi gas N2. Kemampuan katalis diuji dengan reaksi konversi selulosa menjadi asam laktat. Produk dari reaksi dianalisis dengan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Hasil XRD katalis menunjukkan bahwa katalis Mg1-xZnxF2 memiliki struktur tetragonal. Katalis hasil sintesis mempunyai sisi asam Lewis dan Brønsted. Pada penelitian ini, yield asam laktat dari reaktan awal selulosa dipengaruhi oleh keasaman, sedangkan yield asam laktat dari reaktan awal glukosa dipengaruhi oleh kristalinitas. Yield asam laktat optimum dari reaktan awal selulosa diperoleh pada katalis Mg0,925Zn0,075F2 sebesar 30,59%. Sebagian reaksi pembentukan asam laktat berlangsung dalam dua tahap dan ada sebagian yang berlangsung dalam satu tahap tanpa melalui glukosa.

The catalyst synthesis of Mg1-xZnxF2 (x = 0; 0.025; 0.050; 0.100; 0.150) via sol-gel method have been studied. The crystal structure of the catalysts was characterized by XRD, the acidity properties were determined by pyridine adsorption-FTIR and the specific surface area (SBET) of the catalysts was measured by N2 gas adsorption. The catalytic performance was tested by the conversion of cellulose to lactic acid reaction. The product were analyzed by spectrophotometer UV-Vis. Diffractograms show that the Mg1-xZnxF2 catalysts have tetragonal structure. The catalysts have Lewis and Brønsted acid properties. The yield of lactic acid from cellulose was influenced by catalyst acidity, while the yield of lactic acid from glucose was influenced by crystallinity. The optimum lactic acid yield from cellulose was obtained by Mg0,925Zn0,075F2 catalyst of 30.59%. Some of the formation of lactic acid occurs in two stages and there are some that occur in one stage without going through glucose.
