Abstract

================================================================================================
To preventing the prevalence of high rates of morbidity and mortality of respiratory diseases, what we need are tools that capable to detect early and therapy on the breathing periodically. At health facility level 1, the number, capacity, and ability of equipment is still limited, so the opportunity and the needed to design a handheld spirometer based on fiber optic in more compact and economical way appears. Spirometer can be used as household health supplies (PKRT), as well as for health care and non-nursing clinics, mobile health centers, health checks in rural areas, and individual medical practice. The development done by implementing shadowing and observation, reverse engineering, and usability test users on both medical workers and patients. The results become the consideration to design forming with the concept of portable and compact.
